Help Us Reduce Peak Demand on Our Irrigation System This Summer

As the summer heat intensifies, our community faces significant challenges in managing water demand, especially during peak hours. Between 5 to 6 am, our irrigation system experiences a spike in demand of up to 9,000 gallons per minute! This substantial increase is not only hard on the water system but also on our precious water resources.

To ensure we can continue to provide reliable and sustainable water service, we need your help. Here’s what you can do:

Switch to Off-Peak Watering Times

We encourage all residents to adjust their watering schedules to off-peak hours. The best times to water your lawn and garden are:

  • Morning: Between 7:00 am and 9:00 am
  • Evening: Between 6:00 pm and 3:00 am

Watering during these times helps reduce the strain on our system and ensures a more efficient use of water.

Follow the Mandatory Watering Schedule

It’s crucial to adhere to the mandatory watering schedule set by the district. This schedule helps distribute water usage more evenly throughout the week, preventing excessive demand during peak hours. Remember to water your lawn and garden only three days a week.

No Watering on Mondays for residential properties

To further alleviate the pressure on our irrigation system, no residents should be watering on Mondays. Per the mandatory watering schedule Monday is designated for city/municipal utility and special use permit only irrigation. Residential properties watering days are set by either odd or even street address number.

 Why It Matters

Reducing peak demand is vital for several reasons:

  • System Efficiency: Lowering the peak demand helps maintain the efficiency and longevity of our irrigation system.
  • Water Conservation: It ensures that we use our water resources wisely and sustainably, particularly during the hottest months when water is most scarce.
  • Community Support: By following these guidelines, you are playing an essential role in supporting our community’s water infrastructure and ensuring that everyone has access to the water they need.

We appreciate your cooperation and commitment to helping us manage our water resources effectively. Together, we can make a significant difference in protecting our water supply and ensuring its availability for future generations.

Thank you for your understanding and support. Let's work together to keep our community’s water flowing smoothly! For more information contact customer service at 303-288-2646.
